Direct PCR Testing for
Trichomoniasis at SDSU
Movie
of Trich collection and diagnosis (California Department of Food and
Agriculture & UC Davis)
Notes:
1.
The movie
demonstrates collecting smegma and depositing the sample into an InPouch® for
culture. If utilizing direct PCR testing
through SDSU, please note that the sample should be deposited into saline
instead of the InPouch (see this link for details).
2. This movie was produced by the
California Department of Agriculture for their state’s trich program. As such, it covers several issues specific to
their state’s regulations that may not apply to your location. For example, in South Dakota and surrounding
states (except Wyoming), there are no provisions for veterinarians to become
certified to interpret trichomoniasis tests.
<<It is
extremely important that you are familiar with your state’s current
regulations, as well as the regulations of states accepting imported
bulls>>
